Count Dagmar!

Count Dagmar! The infamous vegetarian vampire is back counting from 1 to 10 Billion. Dagmar is a charming young count that rhymes the verses and counts from 1-10.

This book features 10 fun flaps to raise as you count funny little bats, spiders, monsters and many more spooky little ghostly objects.

Get in the true Halloween spirit and count with Dagmar.  Renowned artist, J. Otto Siebold does a terrific job with the illustrations. Almost every spread has it's own beautiful color theme. Illustrations are vector drawn. The text is entertaining to the youngest of readers and would also be ideal for beginning readers.

J. Otto Seibold has illustrated, and in some cases written, more than a dozen books for children, including Olive, the Other Reindeer, Vunce Upon a Time, Penguin Dreams, Other Goose and the Mr. Lunch books.

A Zeal of Zebras

Have you ever seen an embarrassment of pandas?
A kaleidoscope of butterflies? A leap of leopards?

A Zeal of Zebras: An Alphabet of Collective Nouns
by WOOP Studios
Published by Chronicle Books, ISBN: 978-1-4521-0492-8

A Zeal of Zebras caught me off guard! It's not your standard children's picture book, which is why I like it! As far as the artistic look and design of the book goes, it is a  very contemporary and "fashion / design" forward book! It was a real surprise to receive in the mail! The illustrations are a collaboration of layers of luscious layers created in photoshop. These layers have been beautifully laid down in almost a subtle grunge. Some of the layouts boast a bright and bold entrance, while others are cooler in the color palette.

The author has chosen to write interesting facts about twenty six animals. Perhaps these are common facts, but in some circumstances, not so. As an adult, I was very entertained with both the writing and the graphics. This book is perfect for 4-8 year olds. I feel it is a very fresh spin on the infamous alphabet book.

It is the perfect children's coffee table book for young readers and old alike!!

Welcome Back!!

I'm Back! I had to take a break for a bit. Life's little lessons taught me that for a brief moment in time, while the children are small, to soak in that time. Don't waste it - because when they are gone to school, life takes on a different form.

As a result, I'm proud to report my little angel went to school reading at nearly a third grade level! I so valued the time (on so many different levels) that I got to spend with her. Now it is the schools job (during the day) to carry on the learning that I so boldly began.

If this has taught me anything, reading to children from infancy is utmost important! That point there has made all the difference in my mindset and intentions around creating quality children's books that will not only interest them, but also inspire them to read on their own!

I will be blogging about many fun books that I have up my sleeve! I have found some favorites in the past two years. I can't wait to share them all with you.

I also will be blogging about my experience in putting together my second children's book. This one is a little different from the first, however I have written and will be illustrating it over the coming months! I can't wait to share all of that with you too!

Blessing on your day -- and stay tuned!
